Study shows 57% of Australian companies have no policies to manage personal devices
It’s now commonplace for companies to allow employee owned devices such as smartphones, tablets and PC’s into the organisations’ environment. A recent study by Acronis however has found that around 57% of Australian businesses have no policy in place to manage these devices.
While security threats pose an on-going challenge to organisations of all sizes, especially in environments increasingly moving to the cloud, at what point should these companies begin to monitor how the data is used or deployed to personal devices?
Perhaps the answer lies in educating employees on the risks and dangers, or concentrating on those employees with access to the most sensitive data? Whatever the solution, this is something that will need to be addressed in greater detail as the cloud becomes a popular and cost-saving option.
