DHS Pegasus is a custom built, high performing Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform. DHS Pegasus utilises the latest in virtual machine technology, the Xen hypervisor, running on a custom distribution of Linux and backed by a high-performance Distributed Storage Area Network (DSAN).
The technology behind DHS Pegasus has been built with a no single point of failure (SPOF) design, incorporating hardware from Dell, Cisco, Mellanox and Supermicro.
DHS Pegasus comprises a fully homogeneous, horizontally scaling cluster of servers. Each server is supported by dual 20gb/s Infiniband connections, allowing for point to point traffic between each of the nodes in the cluster to reach 40gb/s.
The environment consists of a homogeneous cluster of servers, though each has slightly different specifications according to the amount of memory in each server and time of acquisition. The ratio of CPU clock cycles to amount of memory is equal in each server.
For the purposes of greater availability, all servers are connected to redundant Infiniband and Ethernet switches.
DHS Pegasus supports the deployment of Linux and Windows templates for the purposes of the orchestration layer, including the cloning of disks and the attaching of multiple IPs/Disks to each instance.

N+1 redundancy is offered on all network layers, including our Storage Infiniband network and Ethernet customer network.
All instances have both an interface connected to the public Internet, as well as another providing a per account private network between instances. Each instance has the ability to communicate to other instances over Ethernet feeds ranging from 1 Gigabit to 10 Gigabits.
From a public internet perspective the DHS Pegasus data centre has several high quality upstream providers (up to several hundred Mbps) and peering connections (>1Gb/s). Routes are defined via Vocus Networks and Equinix Connect (a mix of Telstra/Optus/Verizon). Furthermore, we heavily peer with Equinix peering and Pipe IX.
All routers are arranged in an N+1 redundant fashion, with VRRP failover of gateway IPs and BGP failover of transit feeds.
Dark Horse Systems takes a very serious approach to security with all our service offerings, and DHS Pegasus is no exception. Access to servers is controlled by a multi-layer security model, and access to infrastructure is granted solely by connecting through a secure VPN tunnel. Furthermore, all management activities are carried out over a completely separate network from customer/Public internet traffic.
In terms of physical security, all equipment is stored in a private cage in Equinix Sydney3. The site is protected by biometric security control and 24-hour on-site security.
